Geelong
Victoria's second largest city, is located on the shores
of the Corio Bay some 75 kilometers south-west of the State
Capital, Melbourne.Geelong is a magnificent and spectacular
region surrounded by beautiful beaches and close to some

There are numerous clubs and associations in Geelong and
students are encouraged to enhance their social, cultural
and sporting interests. New students in particular will
benefit from joining these associations as they enable students
to broaden their non-academic interests and provide the
opportunity to meet other people with similar interests.

Transport
Geelong
has a well developed transport bus and taxi system. Five
rail stations connect to Melbourne ie., South Geelong, Geelong,
North Geelong, North Shore and Corio.
Banking
All major Australian banks have branches in Geelong, generally
open, Monday to Thursday 9:30 to 4:00 and Friday until 5:00.
ATMs are available at several places with most departmental
stores and supermarkets having ETPOS facilities. All major
credit cards are usually accepted.
Telephone & Postal
There are a number of major post offices and smaller regional
offices offering a wide variety of postal services and many
banking facilities.
Public telephones are plentiful with access to local, interstate
and International on most. Many take coins while others
take a phone card which can be pre purchased at news agencies
and other shops. Geelong's STD area code is 03 and all of
the phone numbers start with 52.
Pubs & Night Life
There are over 50 pubs in Central Geelong some with music
and live bands till late night. Legal gambling includes
TAB racing, poker machines and various lotto and bingo.
However, admission to places for drinking (and gambling)
is restricted to persons over the age of 18.
